Niagara Coatings Services (a Ranew's Companies subsidiary) is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to join our team in Niagara Falls, NY.

Niagara Coatings Services is a well-established industrial and commercial painting and coatings company. Founded in 1974, we specialize in high-quality surface preparation, protective coatings, and painting services for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. We are certified by SSPC with QP1, QP2, and QP3 accreditations, which are rigorous standards for field painting, shop painting, and complex/enclosed structures (often required for bridges, tanks, and other critical projects).
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead financial operations at our headquarters in Niagara, NY. Reporting directly to the CEO and CFO, this role will oversee accurate financial reporting, robust cost accounting, internal controls, and strategic financial insights to drive operational efficiency, profitability, and growth in our dynamic construction environment.

Corporate Controller Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including consolidated reporting.
- Oversee percentage of completion accounting functions, maintenance of accurate bills of materials (BOMs), tracking purchase price variances, inventory valuation, obsolescence, and impairment assessments.
- Manage full-cycle inventory accounting: recording receipts/issues, pricing, shipping terms, vendor negotiations, and reconciliation processes.
- Manage sales/use tax returns, personal/real property tax returns, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Establish, monitor, and enhance internal controls; perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations; implement fraud prevention measures; and safeguard confidential financial information.
- Manage fixed asset capitalization/depreciation, equipment leases, cash management, warranties, and related record-keeping in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support strategic decision-making and partner with CEO and operations teams.
- Provide financial leadership and guidance to finance/accounting staff; assign tasks and oversee team performance as needed.
- Issue purchase orders and support procurement processes when required.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO, CFO, and executive team to deliver actionable financial insights, identify cost-saving opportunities, and contribute to overall business strategy.
Corporate Controller Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA/CMA preferred).
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 4–5 years in a construction environment (public accounting in assurance services strongly preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, standard costing, percentage of completion method, inventory management, variance analysis, and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced: pivots, formulas, data analysis) and experience with ERP systems (construction modules for inventory, BOMs, and costing).
- Proven ability to implement and maintain strong internal controls, lead process improvements, and manage small-to-medium accounting teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across operations, plant management, and executive levels.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
